Sport and leisure

If you don?t want to spend your entire holiday dosing along the pool side, there are ample possibilities for sports and leisure activities in the area. Below, we have collected some of the activities we have found; some are close by, some require a little bit of driving. Regardless of your personal preferences, there is always something to try out.

In the list, we provide up to three different links to further information about the place. All links open in new windows.

  • Bicycling Bicycling in Luberon
    There is a bicycle route across the entire Luberon regional park. A total of 236 km, partly on dedicated bicycle roads, partly on the lesser travelled side roads. The bicycle road is very well marked and passes just 50 meter from the house.

    Close to Manosque, on the other side of the Durance river, the regional council has created a 9 hectare large fishing lake, Lac de p?che de la Foresti?re. In 2006, a lucky guy caught a carpe weighting 19 kg!

    Gliding Gliding
    The National Gliding Centre of France is placed in Saint-Auban, 25 minutes by car from Villeneuve. They offer towing for your own glider, or you can rent one. They also offer lessons and much more. There are often international events taking place here.

    Golf

    Golf du Luberon
    This is an 18-hole golf course beautifully located in Pierreverte, close to Manosque. Check out their website for prices and lots of panoramic pictures of the course.

    Whitewater White water sport
    This exciting sport is possible at several locations up and down the Verdon River. You can go canoeing, kayaking, rafting, etc. The activities are tied into the opening of the EDF locks, so check before you go. It is a fantastic experience, but requires some guts!

    Balloon Hot air balloon
    Try a fantastic journey over the Luberon landscape in a hot air balloon. Travel over valleys and mountains, lavender fields and villages. The trips originates from Forcalquier early in the morning due to weather conditions (departure 3:30 AM). Tickets can be bought at the Tourist Office in Forcalquier.
